The "Rekishi Kaido" or

"Historical Route" Stamp Rally

A rubber stamp rally is like a scavenger hunt, in this case, to promote different historical sites. These stamps are from a rally to sites around Kyoto, all known for their fresh spring water. Pictured at right is a stamp with four temples including the Golden Pavillion and the Ryongi Rock Garden.

Below is a stamp book for this rally, shown with two stamps from the Kiyumizu temple "Kiyumizu Dera", built on timbers, high above the surrounding forest. The large round stamp shows the leaves which attract tourists in the Fall at Kiyumizu.

Rubber stamps from Nijo Castle in Kyoto

A real ninja castle, huge stone walls, a water moat. Inside, the floor boards are designed to squeak, hidden doors for guards.
